Partnership Established

In 2009, Computer Solutions entered into a partnership with the City of San Antonio as a hardware and software provider. Over the last decade and a half, our relationship has evolved into a professional services relationship focused on project delivery and support.

The City of San Antonio began experiencing delays in device upgrades and realized their existing processes for procurement, deployment and asset retirement were fragmented.

The Computer Solutions and the City of San Antonio teams recognized that delays or errors within this program could eventually lead to serious operational and financial strain on the city and lead to significant compliance risks. We designed and executed a PC lifecycle refresh program for the City of San Antonio that streamlined their IT procurement-to-rollout process, improved compliance and strengthened operational efficiency across departments.

Beginning a New Lifecycle Program

Leveraging long-standing relationships and trust built across various City of San Antonio departments, the Computer Solutions team executed detailed workshops to map pain points and responsibilities, creating a complete lifecycle plan through IT procurement, staging, deployment and salvage. By clearly defining roles and organizing hand-offs between Computer Solutions and the City of San Antonio staff, we were able to reduce delays for PC upgrades and begin a department-by-department rollout.

As a Dell DIR-fulfiller, our team had devices shipped directly from Dell to Computer Solutions so that Solutions Architects could configure, test and validate each device before scheduling delivery with a department to upgrade their PCs and set up equipment. This allowed us to streamline our processes and better track legacy equipment to be securely wiped and recycled.

A custom, centralized tracking dashboard was developed for the City of San Antonio to have real-time visibility into its inventory and deployment status across every department, closing the loop on the entire device lifecycle. This ensured accountability, efficiency and transparency at every stage of the deployment process.

Moving Forward with Solidified IT Procurement Process

In 2025, we deployed 500 devices across eight departments, and are set up for a future phase two in 2026. With a repeatable lifecycle process in place, the City of San Antonio has more predictable budgeting and long-term resilience. In addition, Computer Solutions improved cybersecurity initiatives and compliance, reduced financial waste and ensured capital investments translated into operational value.
